Choosing a doctor involves more than finding someone with the right credentials in the right location. Insurance coverage is a practical reality, and not knowing whether a practice participates with your plan before you show up is a frustrating experience no patient should have to deal with.
Heart and Health Medical accepts most major insurance plans across its five Long Island locations. The full list is below.
If you have a question about a specific plan, a specific specialty, or what to do if you carry no insurance at all, the answers are further down this page.
Not seeing your plan? Call the nearest Heart and Health Medical office before your visit.
Networks are updated on a rolling basis, and the list above may not reflect every plan the practice currently participates in.
Heart and Health Medical is a multi-specialty practice with physicians in Cardiology, Internal Medicine, Family Medicine, Allergy and Immunology, Endocrinology, Podiatry, Physical Therapy, Vascular Surgery, Women’s Health, Pain Management, and Wound Care.
That breadth is one of the practice’s strengths – it also means that insurance coverage can vary depending on which specialty you are seeing and at which location.
A plan that covers a primary care visit does not always carry identical terms for a cardiology workup or a course of physical therapy. Some plans differentiate between specialists and primary care providers on cost-sharing. Others require a referral before a specialist visit is covered at the in-network rate.
Before booking a specialty appointment, two calls are worth making:
Doing both ahead of time closes the gap where billing surprises usually come from.
Each specialty below is available at one or more Heart and Health Medical locations across Long Island. Coverage depends on your plan.
Heart and Health Medical accepts both Medicare and Medicaid at its Long Island locations.
Medicare patients also have access to the practice’s Medicare VIP program. This is meant to provide the Medicare beneficiaries with access to the entire spectrum of specialties of Heart and Health Medical in a coordinated manner. Should you be on Medicare and you wish to know what is covered for a certain service before you make a scheduled appointment, you should call the office closest to you.
The specifics of the coverage of Medicaid coverage depend on the type of plan. Get a call made in advance to verify your particular coverage before your appointment.
The member services number on the back of your insurance card is the fastest starting point! Ask specifically whether Heart and Health Medical PLLC is in-network for the service and location you need. Then call the Heart and Health Medical office directly so the team can confirm participation from their side.
Doing both ahead of time is the best way to avoid any gap between what your insurer says and what applies to your specific visit.
